Robert W. Doyle, Jr. concentrates his practice on all aspects of antitrust and trade regulation law with particular emphasis on private and government antitrust investigations and litigation, merger and acquisition investigations and litigation, and Hart-Scott-Rodino pre-merger counseling. He provides strategic advice, guidance and counseling to companies and organizations contemplating transactions which may face actual or potential Federal Trade Commission, Department of Justice, and/or state antitrust scrutiny. Mr. Doyle also provides counsel on the risks and costs of antitrust litigation.
Mr. Doyle has an extensive background in antitrust and trade regulation matters with particular experience in merger and acquisition litigation and federal government practice. He brings to Powell Goldstein over 20 years experience in representing the Federal Trade Commission in merger and acquisition investigations and litigation where he served as the Deputy Assistant Director in the Bureau of Competition.
Mr. Doyle has a broad knowledge of and familiarity with numerous industries including cable and cable programming, telecommunications, chemical processing, oil and gas production, refining and distribution, metals and metals processing, printing, paper manufacture, insurance, automotive parts, retail office products, supermarkets, and healthcare, as well as other service-related markets. He supervised complex government investigations and litigation in these industries and was lead counsel on many government-litigated matters challenging mergers and/or acquisitions in these markets. While serving as Deputy Assistant Director for Litigation, Mr. Doyle's office successfully litigated FTC v. Staples, Inc., et al., 970 F. Supp. 1066 (D.D.C. 1997).
